Manufacturing processes can create a wide variety of contaminants including oil mist, dust, fume, smoke, VOCs (volatile organic compounds) and odours which must all be controlled under Health and Safety regulations including Control of Substances Hazardous to Health 2002 (COSHH), as well as Environmental laws such as the Environmental Permitting Regulations 2013.

Filtermist Limited was formed following the acquisition of Multi-Fan Systems, Dustcheck, Modus Air, Dust Control Solutions, Dust Control Systems (DCS) and Cades. The company’s experienced team of contracts engineers have a proven track record of providing sustainable air handling systems that comply with the latest legislation. The team also delivers industrial ventilation systems to ensure people benefit from working in the best environments possible.

Filtermist Limited’ expertise includes delivering fully automated centralised air cleaning systems for clients across a wide range of industries including automotive, aerospace, medical device manufacturing, food processing, pharmaceutical, printing, packaging and converting, woodworking and many more.

Consultation

Filtermist Limited’ experienced team begins each project by listening to the client’s requirements and assessing all aspects of the project. We consider the environmental impacts, the health and safety requirements, and the overall system performance requirements, through to the maintenance schedules once the site has been signed-off.

If required, we can issue full technical specifications and tender details, as well as RFQs to sub-contractors on behalf of our clients.

Project Planning

We appoint a designated engineer to each project who is responsible for ensuring the system is planned, manufactured and delivered in accordance to both the design brief and all relevant regulatory requirements. Our experienced team includes P602 accredited personnel, as well as NEBOSH certified members who have undertaken IOSH training including Managing Safely. The project manager can be situated on site for the entirety of the build or as required by the client.

System Design

We employ skilled P602 accredited systems designers who use the latest technologies to produce detailed 2D and 3D plans and visualisations.

AutoCad is complemented by FARO 3D scanners to produce detailed plans to scale, with images and animated ‘fly-throughs’ showing how the proposed system will integrate with the planned or existing building utilities. This BIM (Building Information Management) capability enables our clients to easily visualise what the proposed system will look like in situ, and plan how the changes will affect their business.

It also acts as a ‘user handbook’ for the client once the installation has been completed as the drawings contain exact details of all parts used and their location in the system. We currently work to BIM Level 2, but can deliver up to BIM Level 3 if required.

Specification

Filtermist listens to its clients’ needs and then specifies extraction equipment accordingly - it is our aim to provide the solution that best ensures the client’s needs are met. All extraction systems are designed by our P602 qualified engineers within the guidelines of the HSE’s HSG258 ‘Controlling airborne contaminants at work – a guide to local exhaust ventilation’.

Manufacture & Supply

Absolent Air Care Group companies have manufactured air extraction and filtration systems in the UK and Sweden since 1969. The group operates two UK based in-house fabrication departments which manufacture Filtermist and Dustcheck branded filtration equipment using traditional metalworking techniques coupled with the latest technologies.

Filtermist Limited is also responsible for manufacturing Kerstar industrial vacuum cleaners, including ATEX rated models. Filtermist Limited is also the UK distributor for Italian VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) abatement specialist Brofind Spa, and filter manufactures including sister company Absolent AB.

Installation

We operate dedicated installation teams which work to the highest standards at all times. We are accredited by the Alcumus SafeContractor scheme for our high levels of health and safety practice. Working as a turnkey supplier overseeing all aspects of system installation, or under Construction, Design and Management (CDM) regulations, we closely monitor and audit our teams to ensure that they work safely, efficiently and within the guidelines of our clients’ needs at all times.

Our teams are managed by NEBOSH qualified Contracts Managers, and all employees are seasoned professionals who are both qualified and experienced in carrying out the installation of ducting, pipework, electrics and filter systems.

Commissioning

P604 accredited engineers commission all of the equipment that has been installed in centralised extraction systems in accordance with HSG258 guidelines before the project is signed off. A series of regular tests are undertaken to ensure that the system is performing as designed and once the team is completely satisfied that everything is in order, the project is completed.

Aftersales support

Filtermist Limited provides an extensive aftersales service for all makes and models of industrial air filtration and extraction equipment. The service includes:

  • Approved spare parts for a wide range of air filtration and extraction equipment
  • Routine and Reactive Maintenance which includes regular checking and changing of filters if required, as well as checks to motors and all system related consumables.
